Service 551: Timetable Changes

Deregulation of Bus Services in England, Scotland and WalesShow All
On Sunday 26th October 1986, bus services in England, Scotland and Wales (but not London) were deregulated. Midland Red (West) Limited made a large number of changes to services in all of their operating areas, and expanded into the Birmingham and Black Country area by re-opening Birmingham (Digbeth) depot.
- As part of a renumbering exercise in the Evesham area to avoid route number duplications with new services in the Birmingham and Black Country areas, Service 250, Service 251 and Service 271 (Worcester, Pershore and Evesham) are withdrawn and replaced by new Service 550, Service 551 and Service 571, running over the same routes with similar running times.

- All Service 550 and Service 551 journeys now run via Three Springs Road and Defford Road.
6th September 2015
Hereford depot closedShow All
At the end of operation on Saturday 5th September 2015, Hereford depot was closed with all services operated from that site being withdrawn. From the follow day, a number of services operated from Worcester depot were also changed.
- New Service 561 introduced as a variation to Service 551, running non-direct between Worcester, Pershore and Evesham.
- New timetable for Service 551 and Service 561, both of which run every two-hours during the daytime, Monday to Friday, inter-worked to give an hourly frequency on most parts of the route.
10th April 2016
From Sunday 10th April 2016, First Midland Red Buses Limited introduced a number of service cuts.
- Off-peak journeys of Service 551 now terminate at Upper Moor.
- Service 561 is withdraw and replaced in part by additional journeys on Service 551 between Worcester, Pershore and Upper Moor.
- Limited Stop Service X50 no longer runs between Evesham, Bidford and Alcester, with certain journeys diverted to run via Cropthorne and Charlton, replacing Service 551 and Service 561 journeys.
- Service 551 now run via Hawbridge again, and is also diverted to run via County Hall, to replace withdrawn Service 561 journeys.
4th September 2016
Revisions are made to certain services in the Worcester area from Sunday 4th September 2016.
- Most Service 551 journeys that terminate at Upper Moor are extended to terminate at Lower Moor.
- One Service 551 journey in each direction terminates at Pershore and is inter-worked with Service 382 to provide through journey to Eckington. This journey no longer runs via Drakes Broughton village.
- Minor changes to Service 551 journey times to accommodate the above changes.
15th October 2017
On Sunday 15th October 2017, First Midland Red Buses Limited revise most of their services, with minor changes in the Worcester City Area and on Service 144 and Service 144A, and a new network of services for Pershore and Evesham areas, and for Malvern area.
- New network of services linking Worcester, Pershore and Evesham. Service X50 now runs direct between Evesham and Pershore on all journeys. Service 382, Service 550 and Service 551 are all withdrawn and replaced by new Service 51, Service 52, Service 53, Service 54 and Service S51. The new network is known as “The 50sâ€,
