Service 35: Timetable Changes

23^rd November 1985

Worcester Citibus Network LaunchedShow All

On Saturday 23^rd November 1985, Midland Red (West) Limited replaced all Worcester City Local bus services (using “W”-prefix route numbers, first introduced in 1928) with a new Worcester Citibus network of services operated with high-frequency Mercedes-Benz L608D minibuses. On the same date there are a number of significant service changes throughout the operating area.

• Worcester Citibus Service 35 is introduced, running every 8-minutes between Worcester City Centre (Angel Place), Rainbow Hill, Warndon, and Blackpole Village.

9^th September 1991

Crowngate Bus Station (Phase 1) openShow All

At the end of operations on Sunday 8^th September 1991, Angel Place Bus Station in Worcester is closed. From the start of operations on Monday 9^th September 1991, Phase 1 of the new Crowngate Bus Station is opened with all Worcester Citibus services being re-routed to start and finish at the new site. Services using Newport Street Bus Station continue to use that site but are re-routed to additionally call in Crowngate to and/or from Newport Street. From the same date, existing bus stops at The Cross and Broad Street are taken out of use to allow pedestrianisation of these streets.

• Worcester Citibus Service 34, Service 34A, Service 34C, Service 35, Service 35A, and Service 35C are re-routed to start and finish in Crowngate Bus Station at Stand J.

3^rd November 2002

Worcester City and Droitwich Spa Network ChangesShow All

From Sunday 3^rd November 2002, First Midland Red Buses Limited make a number of changes to their bus services in the Worcester City and Droitwich Spa area.

• Monday to Saturday daytime Worcester Local Service 34, Service 34A, Service 34B, Service 35, Service 35A and Service 35B journeys are withdrawn and replaced new simplified Service 35 running every 10-minutes. Evening and Sunday journeys continue unchanged, running as part of a Worcestershire County Council contract.

5^th July 2004

Worcester “Overground” Network LaunchedShow All

On Monday 5^th July 2004, First Midland Red Buses Limited re-brand their local service in Worcester City as the new Worcester “Overground” network.

• Worcester Local Service 35 between Worcester City Centre, Rainbow Hill, Warndon and Blackpole is re-branding as “Yellow Line” as part of the new Worcester “Overground” network.
