The first iteration of Service 247 operated by Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Company Limited (BMMO—Midland “Red” Motor Services) was introduced in the mid/late 1920s[Exact Date Needed] as a local Bromsgrove service, running a circular route from Bromsgrove Town Centre to Sidemoor and returning to the Town Centre via Stourbridge Road.
The service ran two clockwise journeys on Tuesday and four on Saturday, plus two anti-clockwise journeys on Saturday evenings.
Local Bromsgrove Service 247 was renumbered to Service 332 as part of BMMO's network renumbering exercise on Saturday 11th February 1928. The route and timetable for this service were unchanged when it was renumbered, but the service was withdrawn by September 1929.

From Saturday 11th February 1928 until the company ceased operation of Black Country services at the end of business on Sunday 2nd December 1973, Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Company Limited (BMMO—Midland “Red” Motor Services) allocated route number 247 to one of several short-working variations of Service 245.
The full Service 245 originally following the same route as the trams, but the last trams on this corridor were withdrawn on Saturday 1st March 1930. BMMO first started running buses on the tram route in 1924 (first as Service 84B, then as Service 157, and finally as Service 245) and there had always been short-working journeys at certain times of the day, but it wasn't until the company renumbered their network on Saturday 11th February 1928 that these journeys were allocated their own route number.
