Service 145: Service History

Service 145 (1932–1939)

Operated by Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Company Limited

Before the Second World War, Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Company Limited (BMMO—Midland “Red” Motor Services) operated Service 145 between Birmingham, King's Heath, Wythall, Booley and Redditch. There was one return journey on Thursdays only.

This version of Service 145 was one of many routes that were “Temporarily Suspended” shortly after the outbreak of war in 1939 due to fuel rationing, but it was not reinstated after the war ended.

Service 145 (1949–1981)

Operated by Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Company Limited

New Service 145 was introduced by Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Company Limited (BMMO—Midland “Red” Motor Services) in the late 1940s, running between Birmingham and Bromsgrove via West Heath, Rednal, and Barnt Green.

Initially, short-working journeys between Birmingham and Rednal operated as Service 146, but these had been withdrawn by 1971.

Midland Red Omnibus Company Limited (MROC) ceased trading as a bus and coach operator at the end of services on Saturday 5th September 1981. From the following day, all journeys of Service 145 were operated by the newly formed Midland Red (West) Limited.

For details of this route after 1981, see Midland Red West Service 145.
