Were the seats on these Nationals improved to match the Express livery, or did they retain the PVC seats?

I think they were retrimmed, but this was before my time so I'm not 100% sure.

Yes these buses had moquette seat material which, if my memory hasn't let me down, was basically mid-grey with orange/red and dark grey/black zig-zag stripes. Though the pattern was similar to later Plaxton coaches, the seats themselves were otherwise standard Leyland National bus seats and not Dual Purchase type as hinted at by the Midland Express livery.
