The location is the patch outside the old (pre-rebuild) Stafford (SD) garage. The giveaway is in the background, firstly the Brine Baths (demolished a long time ago) and secondly the rear of the Picture House (now an excellent conversion into a Wetherspoons). Many a happy childhood hour spent bus spotting on the patch with a goodly selection of FEDD's and ONC's.

The S6's were always a firm favourite of mine, they were the best looking of post-war BMMO underfloor single-deckers, the narrower radiator grille which tapered towards the bottom seemed to follow the front profile more naturally than later S8's to S12's. The separate driver's and nearside windscreen with individual chrome surrounds gave a distinctive appearance which suited the vehicle. Some were good performers, and I remember with surprise when, as a passenger on Worcester based S13 3900 working a Bank Holiday Motorway extra service between Worcester and Birmingham, Bromsgrove's S6 3069 came roaring past with a standing load!

That's a classic photo, thanks 943KHA ! ( - It could also be "anywhere" in the 50's and 60's) -- I agree with Tim that the S6 was the best looking of the BMMO post-war single-deckers, and the repaints that happened approx. every two years "brought out the best" in the older fleet.
