Of the two BMMO type D10 prototype double-deck buses that were built, thankfully one has been rescuied for preservation.
Shortly after 4943 was withdrawn from service in July 1972, it passed to the late Alan Kelsall for preservation, along with a considerable quantity of machanical parts removed from the second prototype, fleet number 4944. Mr Kelsall retained this now unique vehicle until 1979, when it passed to Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Trust (“The Transport Museum”—BaMMOT), Wythall.
