Service 440: Timetable Changes

On Sunday 1st November 1987, Midland Red West took over full control of the Bull Ring Bus Station from National Express. In an attempt to attract more traffic, from Saturday 30th January 1988 many Birmingham Local services were rerouted to start and terminate in the bus station. A number of other changes were also introduced from the same date.
- Birmingham and The Black Country Service 40 is renumbered to new Service 440 and extended from Bearwood via Hagley Road West, Wolverhampton Road South, West Boulevard, Quinton Road West, Quinton, and Kingsway to Brandhall. Times between Bearwood and Witton are unchanged.
22nd September 1991
- Birmingham and Black Country Service 440 running between Brandhall, Bearwood and Witton is extended from Witton to Perry Barr. A new timetable is issued with times adjusted throughout the route.
22nd February 1997
- New Service 440 running between Hereford and Abbeydore is introduced as part of a Hereford & Worcester County Council contract.
14th December 1997
- Birmingham and The Black Country Service 440 running between Bearwood, Witton and Perry Barr is extended from Bearwood to Birmingham. A new timetable is issued with times adjusted throughout the route.
3rd September 2000
- Birmingham and The Black Country Service 440, running between Birmingham, Bearwood and Perry Barr, is withdrawn.
2nd September 2001
- Birmingham and The Black Country Service 440, running one return journey between Bearwood and Perry Barr is withdrawn.
17th February 2003
- Most journeys on Service 440 (Hereford, Abbeydore and Longtown) are withdrawn, leaving only school journeys between Hereford and Michaelchurch Escley. The route for off-peak Wednesday, Friday and Saturday journeys of Service 412 is changed to run via Kilpeck as a partial replacement.
