Service 26: Timetable Changes

On Saturday 23rd November 1985, Midland Red (West) Limited replaced all Worcester City Local bus services (using “Wâ€-prefix route numbers, first introduced in 1928) with a new Worcester Citibus network of services operated with high-frequency Mercedes-Benz L608D minibuses. On the same date there are a number of significant service changes throughout the operating area.
- Worcester Local Service W26 is withdrawn and replaced by new Worcester Citibus Service 26 and Service 27, running between Worcester City Centre (Angel Place) and Henwick Park (Monarch Drive). Service 26 operates throughout the day via Comer Road and Comer Gardens, while Service 27 operates via Henwick Road during the evenings and all day on Sunday.

- Worcester Citibus Service 27, running between Worcester City Centre, Henwick Road and Henwick Park, operating evening and Sunday journeys only, is withdrawn and replaced by additional Worcester Citibus Service 26 journeys, running between Worcester City Centre, Comer Gardens and Henwick Park.

Crowngate Bus Station (Phase 1) openShow All
At the end of operations on Sunday 8th September 1991, Angel Place Bus Station in Worcester is closed. From the start of operations on Monday 9th September 1991, Phase 1 of the new Crowngate Bus Station is opened with all Worcester Citibus services being re-routed to start and finish at the new site. Services using Newport Street Bus Station continue to use that site but are re-routed to additionally call in Crowngate to and/or from Newport Street. From the same date, existing bus stops at The Cross and Broad Street are taken out of use to allow pedestrianisation of these streets.
- Worcester Citibus Service 23, Service 24, Service 25, Service 26, Service 26A, and Service 33 are re-routed to start and finish in Crowngate Bus Station at Stand D.

- New Worcester Local Service 26A is introduced, running three times a day along Himbleton Road after residents at Himbleton House complained that the normal Service 26 route was too far away.
18th April 2004
On Sunday 18th April 2004, First Midland Red Buses Limited introduced a large number of changes to their bus services in Worcestershire. These are a result of both efficiencies introduced by the company and by changes to Worcestershire County Council subsidy strategy.
- Local Worcester Service 26 is withdrawn and replaced by Service 31 which is extended to Henwick Park as a cross-city service.
