“Wendaway” Viable Network Project
On Saturday 5th November 1977, Midland Red Omnibus Company Limited (MROC) introduced the “Wendaway” Viable Network Project (VNP) scheme in Kidderminster and the surrounding area.
- Timetable completely revised for local Kidderminster Service K1. Frequency between Offmore Farm and Town Centre is reduced to 20-minutes, and Town Centre to Rifle Range increased to 20-minutes.
- Service K17, Kidderminster to Aggborough Circular, is renumbered to Service K10 with a revised timetable.
- Service K18 running between Kidderminster and The Walshes is withdrawn and replaced by new Service 294. On Sundays Service 304 provides a through services from Stourbridge to The Walshes.
- Service K34 is withdrawn and replaced in part by Service X93, Service 293 and Service 313.
- Revised timetable for Service X92 running hourly between Birmingham, Kidderminster, Bewdley and Ludlow.
- Service 133 is withdrawn and replaced by new Service X93 running hourly between Birmingham, Kidderminster, Stourport and Worcester, inter-worked with Service X92 to provide a 30-minute frequency between Birmingham and Kidderminster.
- The Tenbury Wells to Leominster section of Service 291 is withdrawn.
- Timetable revised for Service 292 running between Kidderminster, Cleobury Mortimer and Ludlow.
- Service 299 running between Kidderminster, Trimpley and Arley School is withdrawn.
- Service 311 and Service 315 running between Stourbridge, Kidderminster and Worcester are withdrawn and replaced by new Service 303.
- Service 316 running between Kidderminster and Stourbridge is withdrawn and replaced by new Service 305, with a revised timetable.
- Service 317 running between Kidderminster, Chaddesley Corbett,and Bromsgrove, is renumbered to Service 298 with no change to the route or timetable.
- Service 352 running between Kidderminster, Cutnall Green and Droitwich Spa is withdrawn and replaced by new Service 296, with a revised timetable.
