Birmingham Bull Ring Bus Station
On Sunday 1st November 1987, Midland Red West took over full control of the Bull Ring Bus Station from National Express. In an attempt to attract more traffic, from Saturday 30th January 1988 many Birmingham Local services were rerouted to start and terminate in the bus station. A number of other changes were also introduced from the same date.
- “Wyvern Express†Service X55, running between Liverpool, Shrewsbury, Hereford, Cardiff and Swansea, is withdrawn due to low patronage.
- Birmingham and The Black Country Service 1 is rerouted to start from and terminate at Bull Ring Bus Station, not Smallbrook Queensway. A new timetable is issued to accommodate this change.
- Birmingham and The Black Country Service 40 is renumbered to new Service 440 and extended from Bearwood via Hagley Road West, Wolverhampton Road South, West Boulevard, Quinton Road West, Quinton, and Kingsway to Brandhall. Times between Bearwood and Witton are unchanged.
- Birmingham and The Black Country Service 114 between Birmingham and Sutton Coldfield is rerouted to start from and terminate at Bull Ring Bus Station. Times are unchanged.
- Birmingham and The Black Country Service 128 between Birmingham, Oldbury and Blackheath is rerouted to start from and terminate at Bull Ring Bus Station and call at New Street. Minor adjustments to times of all journeys.
