Service 582 was a short-lived variation of Service 528 and Service 550, introduced by First Midland Red Buses Limited in c. 1999 between Worcester and Evesham, under contract from Worcestershire County Council. Two evening journeys ran Monday to Saturday from Worcester to Evesham via St Peter's Estate, Norton and Littleworth, but there were no journeys in the opposite direction, with these being operated as Service 550 or Service 551.
On Monday 4th September 2000, Service 582 was re-routed to run via Whittington between St Peter's Estate and Stoulton, and therefore no longer served Norton or Littleworth. Evening journeys of Service 382 operated by Astons Coaches were introduced, replacing this section of the route. Service 528 was withdrawn and replaced with additional journeys on Service 557, and a new journey on Service 582 running from Evesham to Worcester for the first time.
Initially Service 582 was operated by Worcester depot and was often driven by the depot manager at the time, Mr Robert Skinner, who would do a spot of driving in the evenings to help relieve staff shortage problems. Later, possibly at the same time as the route changes, to further help with the staff shortages the service was transferred to Evesham depot, but it was unpopular there as that depot had not seen any late night duties for many years previous to this.
Service 582 was withdrawn on Sunday 22nd April 2001, and replaced in part by Service 551 journeys with revised times, which continued to be operated by Evesham depot until the build-up to its closure in 2006.
1 One journey started a Worcester Gala Bingo Hall, departing at 21:22.
2 One journey operated via Plum Tree Estate in Pershore.
3 Cropthorne and Charlton only served by journeys towards Evesham, the sole journey towards Worcester ran direct between Hamton and Wick Turn.
