Service 145 (1928–1939)

Before the Second World War, Service 145 was operated by Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Company Limited (BMMO—Midland “Red” Motor Services) between Birmingham, Booley and Redditch. This version of the service was one of many “Temporarily Suspended†shortly after the outbreak of war in 1939, due to fuel rationing, but it was not reinstated after the war ended.
Service 145 (1949–1981)

New Service 145 was introduced by Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Company Limited (BMMO—Midland “Red” Motor Services) in the late 1940s, running between Birmingham and Bromsgrove via West Heath, Rednal, and Barnt Green. Short-working variations operated as Service 146 between Birmingham and Rednal.
Operation of Service 145 passed to Midland Red (West) Limited on Sunday 6th September 1981.

Service 145 (1981–1986)

Service 145 was operated by Midland Red (West) Limited between Bromsgrove, Barnt Green, West Heath and Birmingham. The service ran hourly on Mondays to Saturdays, and every two hours on Sundays. After Bromsgrove depot closed, operation of most journeys passed to Worcester depot, and certain journeys were extended to start or finish in Worcester from Saturday 23rd November 1985.
In preparation for deregulation Service 145 was withdrawn by Midland Red (West) Limited, and last operated on Friday 29th August 1986.

Service 145 (1987–1990)
Operated by Midland Red West Limited
In 1987, the newly privatised Midland Red West Limited won a contract from Hereford and Worcester County Council to operate Service 145, although this was not the same route that had been run before deregulation. During the week and on Saturdays the route now only ran between Bromsgrove and West Heath over the old route, then diverted to terminate at Longbridge Railway Station, with one return journey every two hours during the main part of the day. On Sunday the route continued into Birmingham, Corporation Street, over the same route as operated in 1986, with four return journeys running in the afternoon and early evening. The section of the route between Bromsgrove and Worcester was not operated.
Sunday working of Service 145 was short-lived so on Saturday 2nd January 1988, all Sunday journeys were withdrawn. At the same time, the short-working journeys on other days between Bromsgrove and Longbridge were renumbered to new Service 135. Two return journeys each day were extended to Birmingham and these continued to be operated as Service 145, with the terminus in the city centre moved to the Bull Ring Bus Station which had come under the full control of Midland Red West on Sunday 1st November 1987.
