Just for the record, fleet no. 4002, reg. no. SHA 402 was a BMMO type LD8 with Leyland PD2/12 chassis, Leyland 0600 9.8 litre diesel engine and Leyland 56 seat double deck body H30/26RD. It appears to have had a short but nomadic life;

New to Oldbury 01/53, then to;
Ludlow 05/55,
Bearwood 10/55,
Ludlow 03/58,
Bearwood 11/58,
Ludlow 06/62,
Leamington 05/64,
Engineering float 03/66,
Withdrawn 10/66.

Interesting. I seem to remember reading somewhere that double deckers operated by Ludlow on the X92/192 were used in the Summer only and were reallocated to Bearwood for the winter. It sounds as though 4002 could have been one of those but that it was not necessarily the same vehicles that spent their summers in Shropshire.

Thanks Dave for the photo, and thanks chason and Tim.

The row of vending machines is part of the "street scene" from our childhood that I would love to have saved for preservation ( - they would be a great addition to the museum at Wythall !)

I think some younger viewers would be confused initially about what they are actually looking at !!

Fascinating. Thanks guys. I am about to post another picture, which may well be from the same 'set', which I think confirms it was the latter Ludlow period that this picture is from - 1962-64.

In the photo 4002 / SHA 402 is on the X34 Shrewsbury - Ludlow - Hereford. This was at least partly doible deck for several years.
