Immaculately presented Southern Region Merchant Navy pacific locomotive 35028 'Clan Line' worked the Railway Touring Company 'Worcester Pullman' charter from London Victoria on Saturday 26 September 2026. As far as I know this was the first steam charter in this area which didn't have a diesel in 'top and tail' mode. A diesel Class 67 was on the train from Victoria to Willesden, but 'Clan Line' worked the service from there via Swindon and Cheltenham unassisted. What is more remarkable is that it had 14 heavy Pullman coaches in tow making around 600 tons on the drawbar. Even more remarkable is that this locomotive managed to surmount the notorious Camden bank unaided on the return journey via Evesham, Moreton-in-Marsh and Oxford, testament to the very skilled driver and fireman. Apologies that the photographs are not very good, but the sun was more or less directly in the camera lens putting Platform one in dark shade!
