Contract Win for First

I see First Worcester have registered routes previously operated by Aston, so I assume that means they have been successful in winning part of the contract that was recently issued by WCC.

Good news for Worcester depot. :D

That was a nice surprise to get on a Sunday morning, - thanks Adam !

Limited info available so far, on bustimes.org shows First have gained the rural work to the north-west / west of Worcester, and the Battenhall area, - ex-Astons.

-- all due to start imminently on Monday May 6th.

-- Do you know how long these contracts are for Adam, and

do you know when the Herefordshire contracts expire ?

Cheers !

I remember reading the WCC contract at work a few months ago but I honestly can't remember how long it was for, and even if I did there is always the possibility that First have negotiated different terms.

The Herefordshire work should be around the September mark, but I believe that one has an "option to extend", so assuming both parties are happy it may not be re-issued.

So Bustimes give Astons bus route vehicles as a mix of E200/E300 and Streetlites - they will fit in well with the First Worcester fleet. I wonder if the [elderly] Scania double deck buses will arrive also ??

First will be operating the contracts and not necessarily taking the vehicles.

With First purchasing electric buses for a number of their operating companies this has created surplus vehicles some of which already have found their way to Worcester in recent months.

The key issue at the moment is the group has had to find a number of temporary vehicles for the Tranche 2 Greater Manchester franchised services they have won and have started operating whilst they wait for the new vehicles to be delivered

SO FAR, the only services, ex Astons, soon to be First that I can find confirmed, require a very small number of single-deckers, -- but I would be very pleased if First were to get the 19, 54 and 332 as well, -- even better would be to get their school contracts, but I doubt that will happen ( and it would mean First needing an outstation or something ! )

IF Bustimes is correct , Astons are still operating bus routes this week.
