33043 is due to be collected by Manchester College today (Sunday), the engineers are not optimistic that it will make the journey

I would imagine it’s because it’s the oldest out of all of them.

This bus has very few seats downstairs, most are perched over the wheel arches and behind so access up the steps is a nightmare for the elderly and disabled; not only that the headroom is low enough to make anyone over 5 feet tall stoop to get to their seat. Sadly all so called low-floor double - deckers and even Volvo and Scania single - deckers have this fault!

Something which I dont understand why First continue to specify. In Bristol, Glasgow and Kernow where the newest MMC400s are, they are mainly short wheelbase, with just 8 regular seats on the lowest floor space, plus the two at the front, and 4 fold downs around accessible areas. Yet they have long wheelbase versions for Unibus and P&R use, why do the busiest city routes not deserve such buses either

Slightly more on topic, the batch of Presidents that 33043 is part of seem to be getting withdrawn elsewhere too. Glasgow’s are slowly getting outsted by new stock, Kernows seem fine for now, Norwich’s are mostly all in new style livery so probably around for a bit yet, Essex’ look quite vulnerable though knowing first will survive for a while, or they will sell off Essex . Bristol also have 3 which have been on loan since September last year from Weymouth, and with vehicle shortages, they are still going strong. Would be nice if Worcester gained one to replace 33043
