From the formation of the company on the 6th September
1981, Midland Red (East) Limited continued to use “Poppy Red”
variants of the standard National Bus Company livery, carried over from
the Midland Red Omnibus Company Limited (MROC), on their fleet of Leyland
National buses.
The “Lancer” MAP
area branding carried on vehicles operating in the Coaville and Swadlincote
areas was the only branding inherited from the Midland Red Omnibus Company
Limited (MROC). Midland Red (East) Limited
abandoned this soon after the formation of the company and by the end
of 1983 it had been totally phased out.
In January 1984, the company changed their name to Midland Fox Limited
and introduced a new bus livery of dark red with golden yellow front divided
diagonally by a golden yellow stripe. Vehicles that still carried
the old overall red livery had their Midland Red fleet names
replaced with the new company name and logo, which they continued to carry
until being repainted.
