On the 14th December 2004, First Midland Red Buses Limited
took delivery of VX54MOV, an Alexander Dennis Enviro 300,
which was delivered in plain overall red livery to commemorate to hundredth
anniversary of the formation of the Birmingham and Midland Motor
Omnibus Company Limited (BMMO — Midland “Red”).
The vehicle initially entered service on 15th December
at Redditch
depot (RH) for driver familiarisation duties,
before entering normal service at that depot on 15th January
2005 as fleet number 67631. On 21st January
2005, the she was taken to the body shop at Worcester
depot (WR) and fitted with “Midland”
fleet names, numbers and logos in the BMMO style of gold with black outlines.
The wording “Celebrating 100 years of service from Midland Red”
was applied above the windows in gold lettering, along with the standard
“First” logo and fleet name. Shortly afterwards she moved to
Evesham
depot (EM), presumably as this depot operates
mostly rural services and the bodywork was less likely to be damaged.
In 2004, First Midland Red also repainted Leyland
National number 90270 (R/No: HHA101L) to overall red BMMO livery as
part of the centenary celebrations. This vehicle had been new to BMMO in
1972 in overall red BMMO livery as fleet number 101. |
