Ludlow Depot
Weeping Cross Lane, Ludlow.
- Steel framed, single bay garage with pre-frabricated exterior
walling, with a capacity for nine vehicles. Adjacent land
for additional outdoor parking.
- Opened by Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Company Limited
(BMMO — Midland “Red”) on 1st January
1951, becoming the company's first new garage built after World
War II. Initial allocation of eight vehicles.
- Vehicle allocation of twenty-one by February 1967, made up of
four double-deck and seventeen single-deck buses, most being stored
outdoors due to insufficient space inside.
- Company renamed to Midland Red Omnibus Company Limited
(MROC) on 29th March 1974, with a depot allocation
of 16 vehicles and approximately 38 staff at this time.
- Depot control passed to Midland Red (North) Limited when
the Midland Red Omnibus Company Limited split up on 6th September
1981.
- Depot closed on 20th May 1983, with certain
vehicles and services passing to Midland Red (West) Limited.
- Used for some time as an ATS depot, but later sold.
